A Little About Me
My name is Rebekah Bittner and I am an Elementary Education major. I grew up in central Minnesota, in the suburbs of St. Paul. Ever since I was young, I always had a competitive spirit and a love to be active. As a result of this, sports have been a big part of my life. Soccer and running in particular have fostered my team mindset and leadership skills. I also learned to play the piano which nurtured my desire for beauty and creativity. I grew in love for teaching through my high school teachers who helped me flourish and mature in creativity and leadership. Growing in love for learning started my goal to pass on a sense of wonder and curiosity to future students.
From the time I was in high school I have taught swimming lessons ages 6 months to 15 years old. I was a summer camp councilor for children grades 1-9. I learned to be very flexible. I also went on a mission trip to Peru where I co-taught young children ages 5-12 and built a new garden for a remote village. I tutored in the AVID program which is implemented in many of the public schools in Bismarck. AVID taught me many versatile ways of guiding students and helping them learn. I have become a strong yet flexible professional ready for challenges. I am so blessed to have peers and teachers who helped me along the way and I hope to help others too. |
My familyMy family, especially my husband, have been big supporters in my journey through life and school. When I was in high school I visited my sister-in-law's elementary school where she taught. It helped inspire me to become an elementary school teacher myself. My Mom was my homeschool teacher for a year and it helped me see teaching from many different angles. My husband has devoted time to helping me improve the style of my classroom and has even given time to help decorate. I find family to be a very important part not only my life but of everyone's life. While the students I have in my classroom may not be family it is important for students to know that they are welcomed and that they can feel at home in a learning environment.
